A letter to the churches of america

I write in hope that these words will, like they have in me, ignite more fervor towards Christ. May they help further your relationship with him, and help forge a deeper relationship with those brothers, sisters & neighbors around you.

As one wanders your mighty nation, they can only begin to imagine what a beacon it could prove to become if your energy & enthusiasm towards its flag, anthems & politics, were instead better invested towards an unceasing heavenly Kingdom, that of Jesus.

What a great place it might be.

Instead your allegiance is to earthly kingdoms. Politics & partisan division: You sow them all, like seeds of discord, endless objections & in-fighting. Consider the fruit they will bear nationally, and internationally alike.

Instead of the first kingdom you seek being that of Christ’s, like he commanded, you waste endless amounts of energy in building temporary political shelters here on earth. They will offer no haven for future generations. Your own children, knowing better, are turning away from your institutions and teachings in droves.

You allege to fight for the unborn, yet when your actual neighbors (image-bearers of Christ) march in the streets to end violence & oppression against their people, you turn your backs. You remain silent. Worse still, some of you cast stones against them.

You care not for those pleading for peace, how then can you say care for the unborn?

You cast foreigners (image-bearers of Christ), who come to your country in search of a better life, in cages. You care not for the foreigners seeking a better life, how then can you say you care for the unborn?

You let those outside your borders (image-bearers of Christ) starve because their political beliefs are different than yours. You war again & again, with nation after nation, sacrificing your own children & theirs. How can you say you care for the unborn?

Your judges cast neighbors into prison for things you’ve certainly been guilty of, and you do not speak up. You divide & sow division, and you sleep well, while your neighbors lay restless from hunger, poverty, and war.

You let your leaders speak ill of humankind around you, and you help amplify it, despite that ill being towards those created in the image of Christ. Surely you know better.

And the worst offense of all, is even though you know better, you continue on.

Jesus said:
Matthew 7:16-20

By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

Consider the fruit of your life, and, compare it to what he’s speaking of:

Galatians 5:22-23:
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

If your daily life & speech towards doesn’t reflect these fruits, work towards fixing it. If the the news media, & your reading material aren’t helping you gain more of those fruits, fix it.

Seek new media, seek new mannerisms of speech, and most of all deepen your relationship with Jesus.

If you wish to grow in Christ, I highly suggest reading the sermon on the mount endlessly (Matthew 5-7) until your life aligns with it.

Seek first a relationship with God & help further his kingdom here on earth. That first of all begins with loving one another, brothers, sisters & neighbors alike, and becoming politically active not for temporary borders here on earth, but for the Kingdom of Jesus.

Thank you.
